Wasps Wings

Taylor Skelton

WASPS WINGS is a sweet little love song. From a beach on the West Coast with an image of a woman I'd never met, this song is an ideal of what a perfect romance could be. It's a personal song, and a good snapshot of where my mind was at when I wrote it. It's also fantastical and unreal while being firmly grounded in the sand. The character wants to

It's a personal song, and a good snapshot of where my mind was at when I wrote it. It's also fantastical and unreal while being firmly grounded in the sand. The character wants to be as good as the woman in question, and the hope is that maybe he's closer than he actually believed himself to be.

This is a throwback to those summer days in high-school. It's about youth, about finding (or taking) our first taste of freedom, and seeing what exactly we were about. Sometimes we soared to the skies. Sometimes we fell flat on our faces. This is probably not accurate and definitely remembered through many shades of rose coloured glasses. But then

But then again, it's all white noise anyway.

Get Me Through

Taylor Skelton

I chose to share "Get Me Through" first because of how personal a song it is. I've never written so honestly before and even though it's a quieter song it feels really good to start this new phase and this new collection of music with a big piece of my heart. I hope you enjoy.

"If I open my mouth will my mind spill out? I can slow it down with a smile grown in the ground Will she fly if I fall, do I dare risk it all? The fire cracks in my palm, I exhale my doubts

I woke up on the carpet, the pillow offered no warmth I believed the prophet when my mother took me to church Closed my eyes, held my breath, the water took its turn This might be a problem, but it's none of your concern

I don't know the answer; the question is far too vague It's like wishing for cancer to give you something to save She loves me so, I've cracked my brave face I don't ever have to ask her, I know it when she looks my way

Though my head is broken, I sing for you I feel like I've stolen my luck to sing for you You make me hold on because you'll see me through
You make me hold on, you get me through"
